We have a small team of multi-skilled and experienced technical experts who are not only passionate about working with communities but also familiar with the context of South Sudan. Our team is diverse, with representatives almost drawn from across the country.

Name: Dr. Martin Kwori,
Position: Founder/Executive Director

Dr. Martin Kwori

 Dr. Martin Kwori is the Founder and Executive Director at AHD. Prior to engaging with AHD , Dr. Martin worked as a Conflict Transformational Advisor/ extractives advisor at Cordaid South Sudan from 2012-2015, responsible for the design and management of community empowerment and multi-stakeholder dialogue projects for peaceful and responsible oil, gas and mining in South Sudan and provided backstopping to local partner organizations working on the same. His  previous work experience includes lobby and advocacy, needs assessment and capacity development of civil society and local government at Concern Worldwide and Skills for South Sudan. Dr. Martin  hold a PHD in Political Science from the University of Dar- Salam in Tanzania. He holds  a Master’s degree in International Development Administration of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, USA and a Bachelor’s degree in Community Leadership and Development of Uganda Christian University, Mukono.
Specialisms: social baseline assessments and action-oriented research, stakeholder engagement; lobby and advocacy; dialogue, negotiation and representation; institutional capacity development of civil society and of local government; project design, management and team leadership.

Name: Betty Yari,
Position: Country Representative-South Sudan

Ms. Betty Yari is currently the Country Representative for AHD- South Sudan. Ms. Yari has extensive experience  working in the humanitarian sector for over 9 years in Canada, Kenya and South Sudan. Prior to joining AHD Ms. Yari worked as Program Manager for Community Organization for Mutual Empowerment in Kenya leading youth empowerment initiatives in rural Kenya. She  worked at Plan International as the Communication and Advocacy Coordinator, developing and managing communication and advocacy strategies for strategic engagements for South Sudan office. She has experience working with refugees and immigrants in Canada and Kenya in areas of diversity and inclusion. Ms. Yari holds a bachelor of Arts degree in Social geography and International Relations from the University of British Columbia in Canada and Master of Development Studies in Peace Building and Reconciliation from St. Pauls’ University, Nairobi Kenya.

Name: Edimond Yugu Sebit
Position: Head of Programme 


Mr. Edmond is currently the Head of Programs at AHD. Mr. Edimond  is a lawyer with  remarkable experience in Humanitarian work. Prior to joining AHD he worked as Legal and Information Officer at International Rescue Committee (IRC). He worked at Mensen met een Missie, a Dutch  organization as Program Manager in South Sudan leading programs on inclusion and diversity. He has also worked with Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and Impact Health both in South Sudan. Mr. Edmond holds a Master in Human Rights from the University of Essex in the UK and a Law Degree from the University of Juba, South Sudan

Name: Esther Maneno

Position: Finance Manager


Ms. Esther Maneno is currently the Finance Manager at AHD. Ms. is a  dedicated  staff has been working at AHD for the last 8 years. She holds a diploma in accounting from Pakwach college in Uganda.

Name: Martina Towe
Position: Project Officer-Gender and Inclusion

Ms. Martina Towe is the Project Officer for Gender and Inclusion. Ms. Towe not only leads our gender and inclusion project, she also ensures that gender and inclusion are visible in all aspects of our programs and staffing. She holds a degree in Social work and Social Administration from Ndejje University in Uganda. Before joining AHD, Ms. Towe worked with the  Red Cross and led awareness campaigns on road safety, community cleaning and others such as blood donations and corona virus awareness raising on vaccination.

Board Members

The organization is governed by a 7 member Board of Directors, namely:

1. Mrs. Mary Puru Michael, Chairperson, works for the National Legislative Assembly of the Republic of South Sudan as an Honourable Member of Parliament and as a member of a specialized committee on social services and child welfare. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Development of Andrews University from an off-campus study programme in Nairobi, Kenya.

2. Mr. Charles Onak Judo, Vice Chairperson, is the executive director of Upper Nile Youth Development Association (UNYDA) and an Assistant Dean at the College of Environmental Studies of the University of Upper Nile, Republic of South Sudan. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences of Khartoum University, Republic of Sudan.

3. Daniel Wani William, Secretary General, is a Program Management Specialist at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Prior to joining USAID, Daniel worked for IBIS as a Senior Program Manager for Education and as an Education Advisor for Plan International in Juba. He is pursuing a Master degree in International Development of Andrews University from an off-campus study program in Nairobi, Kenya.

4. Ms. Dolly Anek Odwong, Treasurer, is an Operations Coordinator at Skills for South Sudan with more than 20 years of work experience with non-profit organizations; specializing in civil society, gender, operations, and fundraising.

5. Mr. Ale Peter Michael (Member), is the Program Manager for Education for Windle Trust International in Juba. Prior to this, he had worked for the Education Development Center (EDC) in Eastern Equatoria State as a Program Coordinator for Education. He holds a Master’s degree in International Development Administration of Andrews University.

6. Momo Julius (Member), is a WASH technician with 10 years’ experience in this position at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration of South Sudan Christian University.

7. Eunice Abalo George (Member), is a Human Resource Officer for Concern Worldwide with 5 years’ experience working for this organization in this field. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Works and Social Administration of Uganda Christian University Mukono.
