Current achievements include:
1. Received an additional grant of 49,000 Euros from PAX Netherlands for youth capacity building and mentorship on peacebuilding and conflict transformation, 1st January -31 December 2017. This additional grant has helped us to facilitate the formation of Salamat youth peace network, whose members we shall be training in transformational leadership, effective communication, peace lobby and advocacy, and provide them with technical assistance and resources for community peace education at local level.
2. Successfully completed a 3-month pilot project ’’ empower youth to advocate for peace (EYAP1)’’ in Juba with financial assistance of 19,600 Euros from PAX Netherlands. In this project we:
• assessed the lobby and advocacy capacities of 5 youth peace associations,
• trained 45 youth leaders in group dynamics and organizational behavior,
• organized a youth peace co-creation workshop for more than 80 youth representatives in collaboration with PAX and Butterfly Works-Netherlands, and
• organized a cultural day for peace where 9 South Sudanese ethnic communities showcased their traditional dances and cultural dishes and ate together as a symbol of unity.
3. Trained 4 water user committees of 7 members each on conflict-sensitive water resources management, a 2-month pilot project subcontracted by Mac Macdonald (Euro Consult), funded by the Government of the Netherlands, March-April 2017;
4. Developed a youth peace lobby and advocacy strategy together with 30 youth leaders, with 9000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) from Justice Africa UK, funded by Danida, November 2015;
5. Carried out a rapid community needs assessment in Pibor County with 12,500SSP from Justice Africa UK, funded by Danida, December 2015.
